The Curse of the Kennedy’s The Kennedy family is one of America’s most popular and powerful families, but it is also one of the most tragic. For several years now the loyal family has been heart broken with tragedy after tragedy. Throughout the years of these tragedies many people have come to the conclusion that to be a Kennedy can mean sudden death, illness and failure, as well as riches, fame, and glory Again and again freak accidents and assassinations have stalked the family. With every marriage, birth or success, there seems to be one tragedy. The misfortune has not skipped any generations. How likely is that all the misfortunes and tragedies that we have read are about one single family? If we look at large families we can sometimes find more death, disease and tragedy than it is generally expected. However, the effect of the news media cannot be underestimated. When a celebrities private life and death become public news gets spread so quick and so thoroughly that we are blinded to everyone else’s lives. Very few people call a curse to explain a disastrous string of deaths in an extended family. Combine automobile accidents, cancer, and other tragedies with all cousins aunts and uncles, and grandchildren and they too may suffer from a great deal of tragedy. However only a few families would suffer from losses of the Kennedy’s amount over a comparable time. Even before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 his brother Joseph Kennedy Jr. had already died in a World War 2 bombing mission. Joseph Kennedy Jr. the oldest child of nine was born in Massachusetts on July 28, 1915. He was the older brother to president John Kennedy. Joseph Jr. attended college at Harvard University in 1934. There he played rugby, and football. He then went to Harvard Law School but left early to become a volunteer Navy flier.
