Cheney’s comments about Iraq were very hypocritical considering American history and foreign affairs. The United States fought for independence from Great Britain because the British monarch was very controlling over the American colonies. ... Historically, times in which American military got involved to help protect foreign people from oppressive regimes such as Vietnam and Korea, fighting did not bring lasting peace to the area. ... In Cheney’s remarks concerning Iraq, he was ignorant towards American support of Saddam Hussein two decades earlier, and the role the United States has played in foreign affairs.
