A dictatorship is run extremely different from a democracy. A single leader runs dictatorships, where in a democracy, the citizens are basically the government. ... Strict rules are placed on citizens living under a dictatorship, and strict punishment is placed on anyone who attempts to defy this authority. ... Democracy provides people with individual rights, and freedoms such as the right to vote, and freedom of speech. Democracy also allows people to basically act as the government. ... Since everyone within a democracy must abide by a constitution, no one is unrestricted by law, and everyone must receive the same criminal punishment when they break the law or try to defy this authority.
