Difference Between Republicans and Democrats
Throughout the past years, two parties have all but dominated the political system of America. Republicans (previously known as ‘Whigs’) and democrats are these parties who have controlled the government for the greater part of its existence. What are the differences between these two parties? ... The fact is, there are many differences between democrats and republicans, and it matters very much. ... Republicans, on average, make more money than democrats. ...
There are also many differences in the mentality of Democrats and Republicans. Republicans are more likely to hold to the phrase, ‘the glass is half full,’ while democrats are a little more pessimistic. When interviewed, 36% of republicans say that the economy is ‘excellent’, or ‘good’ while only 13% of democrats thought this. Not only do democrats think that the economy is bad, 68% of them believe that the economy is getting worse. (Scott) Looking at a year from this day, 65% of Republicans say that the economy will be better; only 25% of democrats think so. ... There are many issues in which democrats and republicans deviate, some being: a balanced budget, flat taxes, tax cuts, Medicare, Social Security, Welfare, affirmative action, legal reform, death penalty, gun control, abortion, regulations on the government, welfare reform, education, crime, and individual rights, to name a few.
