Here is my feasibility analysis on bilingual education in American public schools. In preparing my report, I’ve learned much more about bilingual education. I believe my information will help educate students, parents, teachers, administrators and politicians about bilingual education.
Many people misunderstand bilingual education, including administrators and politicians that make policy recommendations and changes. Therefore, many bilingual education advocates and opponents have been able to speak into the ears of ill-informed policy makers, and sway these people in affecting bilingual education policy in their favor. I have uncovered widespread abuse and misrepresentation of the bilingual education program in the United States.
The original intent of the bilingual education act of 1968 seemed to be an honest effort to help Americanize non-English speaking students. ... Bilingual education advocates have not been able to show the benefits of bilingual education verses English immersion.
