John F. Kennedy From the time he was born it seemed John was always going to become president of the United States. He was a go-getter and preferred to do things himself if at all possible. John Kennedy was born in Brookline, MA in 1917. His mother was Irish and his father was a graduate of Harvard University and entered the business world. John's grandparents were his first connection to politics, they were involved deeply in politics. John had attended four different schools before he finally got to attending Harvard. He, at first, attended Dexter School in Brookline where he played football. He was then enrolled at the Riverdale Country Day School in Bronxville, NY because his father had moved for business reasons. He had also attended the Canterbury School in New Milford, MA and then spent his other school years at Choate in Wallingford, CT. Kennedy was a very average student. He was very smart and capable of being very smart, but he didn't really apply himself. He was in the House of Representatives for six years. And then in 1952, he ran for the Senate, against Henry Cabot Lodge. After he won that election he won the support of many. In 1956 he got himself to run as the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, but he lost .
