Realism and Liberalism theory are the two dominant approaches with regards to international relations in the 20th century. Over the course of the past century, realism and liberalism have been at constant odds with eachother within the world of international relations. ... In this essay, I will analyze realism and liberalism in the context of international relations and provide my own opinion as to which theory I regard to be a more pratical way of studying international relations in the world that we live in today.
The theory of liberalism with regards to international relations was largely developed by Kant and was considered to be the dominant theory in international relations up until the introduction to realism. Over the course of the past few decades liberalism has gained some of its acceptance back amongst various international theorists and has beem reformed to fit contemporary times and is now widely known as neo-liberalism.
