In the civil rights era, Martin Luther King led the fight for equality between black and white people. During the course of this “fight” King is arrested and placed in jail on numerous occasions due to civil disobedience. While in the Burmingham jail after leading “sit-in’s” at local luncheons, a group of clergymen criticized the actions of Martin Luther King Jr. King rapidly responded to these criticisms with the “Letter from Burmingham Jail.
