|
|
|
... Martin Luther King Jr., was convinced that the nation was going to succumb to the violence and hypocrisy of man, and that is why he spent his life trying to change the American viewpoint of racism. However, King was more than a visionary; he was a pragmatist. ... Therefore, he stressed the importance of liberating America from racism and demonstrating that once racism was on the decline, only then could the complete American dream be seen. He believed that for African-Americans the American dream represented their ticket to equality and liberty. ... King taught that hatred and intolerance diminish both the oppressor and the oppressed. King believed that where injustice thrives, we cannot be one-issue people, but must join with other people of good will to always strive for the greater goods of justice and equity.
