philosopy

What is the difference between descriptive ethics and prescriptive ethics? Descriptive ethics is a description of what is or what the facts really are. Prescriptive ethics is a description of what ought to be. In addition, prescriptive ethics has two parts. Consequentialism and non-consequentialism. Every action has a consequence, whether they are morally right or wrong depend on the situation and the individual. What is the relationship between legality and morality? • Legality is the belief that just because something is legal doesn’t mean that it is morally right. • Morality deals with what is right or wrong, no matter what the law says. For example, slavery was legally right in the past, but just because slavery was legal does not make it morally acceptable. What are moral objectivism, moral relativism, and moral subjectivism? • Moral objectivism is the moral belief that things are right or wrong, no matter what anybody says.
