The First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances
The first amendment states that “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech” (Beatty, Samuelson 89). ... The civil war along with many other wars fought on our nation’s soil has allowed one flag to stand victorious, the red white and blue American flag.
On June 14, 1777, in order to establish an official flag for the new nation, the Continental Congress passed the first Flag Act: "Resolved that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation" (usflag 1). ...
