Terrorism, as defined by The Dictionary of Criminal Justice, is the calculated use of violence to obtain political goals through instilling fear, intimidation, or coercion (1). ... The Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA) is a fine example of a terrorist organization that has a goal in mind, yet goes too far and lets it blow up in their face. ... Since the 12th century, when Pope Adrian IV granted overlordship of Ireland to Henry II of England, the Irish have been mistreated by the British in the form of massacres, taking of their lands, and persecution of Catholics by English Protestants. It wasn’t until January 1922 that the Republic of Ireland was established as a result of the uprisings and attacks towards the British by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and Sinn Fein lead by Michael Collins. ... Many say that the Republic of Ireland was a victory for the Irish, but there are always the select few that think otherwise (2).
The Irish Republican Army was founded by Michael Collins after the Easter Rebellion in 1916. Their goal in mind was to plot terror attacks on important British landmarks, such as police stations and courthouses to sway the British to give up their territories in Ireland and give the Irish what they’ve deserved for over 700 years.
