Abortion is meant by the termination of an unborn fetus. There are two types of Abortion-natural and artificial. The natural abortion is often referred to as a miscarriage or a spontaneous abortion. ... An artificial abortion is when the mother decides that the baby is unwanted or the fetus is a risk to the mother’s health if she carries on with the pregnancy. The law is that abortion is only allowed if the physical or mental health of the pregnant women is at risk or there is a real risk that when the child is born it will be severely handicapped. Abortion is not allowed after the 24th week of pregnancy because babies have been kept alive after that period. Induced abortion has become one of the most intense and polarizing ethical and philosophical issues of the 20th century. In the United States of America the debate over abortion has led to legal battles in the courts. ... Abortion has been used throughout the world for thousands of years. Abortion was made illegal in the 19th century when the penalty for ‘procuring a miscarriage’ was life imprisonment. ...
