In this essay, I will clarify Don Marquis’ article, “Why Abortion is Immoral.” I will argue that his position stating that abortion is in the same moral category as killing an adult human being is an illogic one and the two cases are very different, and therefore deserve their own considerations. I, also, will assume, as he does in his article, that whether or not abortion is morally right or wrong depends on whether or not the fetus is at a point of development to deserve moral consideration. ... Now I am not saying that abortion isn’t morally wrong, and people shouldn’t rely on it as birth control. But at the same time, I am saying that the view he takes to explain the wrongness of abortion is faulty. ... As stated in the essay critiquing Marquis’, “Abortion and the Neo-Natal Right to Life,” by Gerald H. ... Would abortion be plausible in this case? Marquis does allow some exception to the anti-abortion issue such as rape, the risk of the mother’s health, or incest.
