In ancient India they developed a social system in which people were divided into separate close communities. Castes system in India are primarily associated with Hinduism but also exist among other Indian religious groups. Muslims, Sikhs Christians in India, reveals the existence of caste like groups and clear concern with social hierarchy. ... The caste system derives from an ancient Indian status system that divided society broadly into four groups: Brahmans (priests), Kshatriyas (kings, warriors), Vaishyas (merchants, farmers) and Sudras (laborers, servants).
