The Christian faith is against all types of capital punishment. No matter what the crime that the person committed was, the church, as a whole still believes that the death penalty is too harsh a punishment for any crime. The Church hasn’t always been against capital punishment in the Dark and Middle Ages the church practised capital punishment as much as the people did in general with burning at the stake a major way of killing people that had somehow gone against the church.
But in this day and age the church in general is against all forms of capital punishment. ... "
Abolition of capital punishment, the bishops said, would do the following:
* It would show people the unique worth and dignity of each person from the moment of conception, as a creature made in the image and likeness of God.
