Definitions of Jihad

Jihad
After careful reading and consideration of the references in the Quran pertaining to the word jihad, I have decided that in this day and age, it means a holy war. Although modern day Muslims say jihad means to strive or struggle and supposedly it is used in the sense of effort and strength and not in the sense of war and fighting, I believe it is misleading considering the Quran contains many statements of fighting and killing non-believers.
In the dictionary, jihad means religious war against infidels or any bitter war or crusade, which is our modern day understanding.
