Death

|
Reflection follows death of relative WHY DO we live only to die? And how fleeting a thing life is - there is that last second, when the end finally comes and the soul leaves the body an empty shell. Sometimes after a long struggle, the body allows itself one last rest. Then comes the time for those left behind to cope with their loss. The memories come, comforting and painful at once, they weave themselves through the minds of the bereaved. Happier times arrive, as one gradually overcomes the shock. The tears come. They are necessary in their healing power, as the mind and body offer a final tribute. The pain is selfish, of course, as are funerals. But they are a necessary selfishness, for how else do we say that final goodbye to someone we love and will miss dearly? It must be a peculiarity of humans that we do not want to let go and feel we somehow must say a final goodbye.
