I KINGS 22:1-40
Introduction:
The epic narrative takes place in the northern kingdom of Israel, established by Jeroboam following the collapse of the Davidic Monarchy and is now ruled by the declining House of Omri. ... “Israel’s prophetic movement is inseparably linked to the period of Israel’s nationhood, when kings and queens sat upon the thrones of Israel and Judah.”

1 Kings Chapter 17 introduces the prophetic ministry of Elijah, which is prophetically linked to the death of Ahab in 1 Kings 22. The number three “symbolizing fullness of testimony and manifestation” appears throughout 1 Kings relative to Ahab. By 1 Kings 22, Ahab has already been judged by the prophets for his apostasy, idolatry and abuse of power. ...
