The present Islam, or the multiethnic cultural society, originated in Arabia in the 7th century and expanded to be the fastest growing religion in the world. ... After Muhammad’s death, the four successors, or the rightly guided caliphs ruled for about 30 years and Islam expanded from Arabia to Egypt, North Africa, and Spain to the west, and into Persia, and India with a constant interface of culture exchanges between Islam and its surrounding neighbors.
Muhammad was the core of the beginning of Islam. ... However, as Islam attracted more believers, it created conflicts from Mecca’s residents as well. This was because the residents felt that Islam undermined pagan idols, which were not only important religiously, but it brought economic benefits from pilgrims who visited it. What the residents feared was that Islam would remove this source of essential income. ... The first caliph was Abu Bakr who Muhammads trusted advisor and close friend ruled a two year period.
