Faith or insanity: A response to Salvation
What is religion? Faith or a mutual acceptance of the same lie? ... In Langston Hughes essay "Salvation" it quite clearly shows the pressure of ones peer and role models to accept something, in this case faith, when it is clearly not as easy as ones peers would make it seem. ... With a heavy heart Langston rose from the pew and accepted the salvation of the people of the church. ... That is how it is for me, I believe but have never had an eye opening slam in your face type experience, Jesus doesnt appear to me doesn’t speak to me, but I still believe and I think that’s all that matters to have salvation.
What is salvation? ...
Lanston did not feel the blessing of God and neither did I when I found my personal salvation. ... But I still believe and I still have faith. If Im right then I will be in heaven if I’m wrong then I wont know it, so to me it doesnt matter one way or the other but, to Langston it did matter because it shook the foundation that his faith to that day was built on and made it crash completely ".
