Richard Roberts became President of ORU, and ORU was $42 million in debt. The creditors would call and say they needed a specific amount of money and ORU did not have it at the time. Richard Roberts became overwhelmed by this debt. All that was on his mind was the debt. One of the Board of Regents members, Pastor Karl Strader invited him to minister at his church. Richard Roberts went, and as he was preaching, the Lord gave him a word of knowledge about a man’s ear being healed. He laid hands on the man, and tried to catch him at the same time. He ended up turning a somersault. That is when the Joy of the Lord came upon him. He had his joy back. Now ORU was constantly coming our of debt, all because he let the Joy of the Lord overtake him.
