Is the Bible the Only Word of God

Is The Bible the Only Word Of God?
by Jim Haskins
updated 2000

Most Christian churches believe that the Bible is the only official word of God on the face of the earth. ... Since the Bible is a history of those people that lived in the Mediterranean area we must accept that God never spoke to any other ancient civilization. To accept this I have to believe that God did not care about the BILLIONS of people that lived on other continents during the same period of time that the books of the Bible were being written. Common sense would tell us that God our Father loves all His children and would not leave them without the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ His Son. ... Ironically, most believe in a regional God and Christ that only taught specific groups, yet totally rejected others, the most complete form of prejudice and bigotry. Fortunately, “there is no respect of persons with God” (Romans 2:11) and they count the worth of a soul equal whether they live in India, South America, or Africa. ...

God wants all of His children to be saved in His kingdom. How can this be done if God did not send His servants in all ages and on all continents? The belief that God has shown a special preference to some is not in harmony with Gods love for all of His children. Just as today, Jesus is known in many parts of the world, He also made Himself known to many different civilizations in the days of the Bible. God does not need television or radio to span the oceans.

It is important to note that the Bible never claims to be the only authorized word of God. ... These writings were then compiled by those who decided which ones were to be included in the Bible. Actually, there are 12 other books mentioned in the Old Testament, but they were not included, namely:

Exodus 24: 7 - "Book of the Covenant"
Numbers 21:14 - "Book of the Wars of the Lords"
Joshua 10:13 - "Book of Jasher"
1 Kings 11:41 - "Book of the Acts of Solomon"
1 Chr 29:29 - "Book of Samuel the Seer"
2 Chr 9:29 - "Book of Nathan the Prophet" & "Prophecies of Ahijah" "Visions of Iddo"
2 Chr 12:15 - "Book of Shemaiah the Prophet"
2 Chr 13:22 - "Book of Iddo"
2 Chr 20:34 - "Book of Jehu"
2 Chr 33:19 - "Sayings of the Seers"

If the Bible contains all of God’s words why would prophecies that were fulfilled in the New Testament not be mentioned in the Old Testament? ...

1 Cor 5:9 - "I wrote unto you an epistle"
Ephesians 3:3 - "As I wrote afore a few words"
Colos 4:16 - "read the epistle from Laodicea"
Jude 1:3 - "when I gave all diligence to write unto you"

If we were to find these books today, would the Christian world accept them as Gods word?
