imbalance and reversed priorities in the Ummah today: 1. In many countries/societies, it is common sight to see the arts and recreation given priority over vital aspect of education, training, research and social services. Likewise, often greater emphasis placed on physical training as opposed to spiritual and intellectual. Also, issues of education, vital health, and social services suffer for lack of funds. a. Ibn al Muqaffa said: “Every instance of extravagance implies trampling of certain legitimate rights.” 2. Such imbalance or disproportionate behavior is not limited to common people; rather, they are equally found among those who are considered otherwise religious and pious. The root cause of this imbalance is often the lack of sound Islamic Education. It is therefore all too common to find the Muslims in general as community becoming preoccupied with less important actions and projects.
