Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
Judaism, Islam and Christianity are three world religions that show great similarities, yet are divided by crucial differences. ... They are all prophet-oriented, though Christianity is the only one to make the prophet divine. They believe in their religion as the one and only true religion, and that nonbelievers are condemned, though Judaism is somewhat more tolerant or universal, believing God judges all men of all religions by their actions.
There are many similarities as well, primarily because Christianity emerged from Judaism, however, the emergence was not a direct line; Christianity broke from Judaism, forming a new religion. Judaism and Christianity come close in doctrine, because of the Holy Bible (New Testament) comes from the Old Testament, which is the Jewish holy book, the Torah. Because of these, both Judaism and Christianity reject the origin of the Islamic faith. Judaism insists on a notion of monotheism, the idea that there is one God. As Judaism understands this idea, God cannot be made up of parts, even if those parts are mysteriously united. ... In Judaism, it is believed that heaven is to abide with the Hebrew God Yahweh. ... In Christianity, the final goal is a new, transformed, and redeemed world where Christ abides with his people in holy perfection. ...
Islam accepts the Jewish Bible and is based largely upon Jewish ideas and traditions, and their philosophical underpinnings are closely related. Mohammed, the founder of Islam, based many of his beliefs on the practices of local Jewish population in his native Mecca.
