Karen People Burma or Myanmar

The Karen people are believed to have originated from the same ancestors as the
Mongolian people. There are many theories regarding the Karen migration, but it appears that they originated in the north, perhaps in the high plains of Central Asia. Many Karen believe they came from a place they call "Thibi Kawbi", which is the lands of Tibet and southern Gobi desert. The Karen then started migrating south and eventually entered the land now known as Burma in 739 B. ... Some people say that Burma is the homeland of the Karen people. According to many historians, the Karen were the first settlers in that area.
Until the mid 18th century, the Karen primarily lived in the forested mountainous regions of eastern Burma. Today, the Karen people are located in the hills along the border between Thailand and Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). Even though there has not been a current census for the Karen people in Myanmar and Thailand, there are and estimated 4 million Karen residing in Myanmar and around 280,000 living in Thailand. The Karen are the largest tribal minority in both countries, which include several different subgroups, each of which having their own language and name, where the Sgaw and Pwo are the largest.
