Kwanzaa is an occasion that is celebrated by mainly African American family. Kwanzaa is used to reinforce the main principles or values of African culture. The seven principles or Nguzo Saba are Imani, Kuumba, Nia, Ujamaa, Ujima, Kiujichagulia, and Umoja. These seven values are the things that Dr. Karenga, the developer of this celebration, thought that African Americans needed to build family, culture, and a community.
