On October 16, 1995, African-American men, women, and children from across the country gathered on Washington’s National Mall; which later was known in history as the Million Man March. “One of the largest civil rights demonstrations ever held in the United States, the march drew an estimated four hundred thousand to one million African-American men from across the country” (African-American History & Culture: 1995).
