Prodigal Son

Traditionally called the “the parable of the prodigal son” can be better described as “ the parable of the compassionate father” or “ the parable of the two beloved sons” This parable can arguably be called one of the greatest parables ever taught by Jesus. ... At that time the elder son would inherit two thirds of the estate and the other part would be divided among the younger son. The arrogance of the younger son to ask the father for his half early was very disrespectful. It was regarded as of the younger son was acting as if his father was dead.
The parable notes that the father complied the young son’s wish “ So he divided his property between the sons”. The parable then goes on to show excesses of prodigal’s ‘riotous living’. The parable makes sure to go into great detail and take time to go into the journey of the son. A few days pass and the son goes off to a “ distance country”. ... A famine then comes and this well to do son ( noted later in the parable by things such as robes, rings, and fatted calf ) finds him completely at the bottom.
