The problem of pollution in the Fraser Valley has been escalating over the past 10 years. The prevailing offshore winds blow all of Vancouver’s pollution down the valley towards Abbotsford and Chilliwack where it accumulates. More than 75% of the pollution is due to automobile emissions, which contain oxides of sulfur and nitrogen.
