Darwins Theory of Evolution

The theory of evolution states that all plants and animals originated from a few singled celled organisms and describes the gradual change of a species over a long period of time such as many thousands or millions of years. In biological terms, evolution can be described as the change in gene frequency of a population of species. Charles Darwin was not the first to think of life by means of evolution. ... com)

Darwin was the first however to present a coherent theory, and a mechanism by which evolution can occur, which has stood the test of time. ... The theory of natural selection was his eventual answer. In 1959 Darwin’s most famous work on evolution entitled “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle of Life”, better known as “The Origin of Species”, was published. ... At first Darwin was reluctant to publish his books because he thought his theory of evolution would be responsible for “killing God”. Darwin’s theory was very
controversial at the time and upon publication, Darwin’s books gave rise to newspaper headlines such as “Darwin makes a monkey out of man” and “Man is but a worm”. Darwin’s theory concludes that evolution occurs slowly and gradually over generations and that only the animals best adapted to their surroundings survived. ...

Darwin’s theory of evolution poses several challenges to the Christian church teachings. Darwinism states that evolution occurs slowly and progressively, over many generations, therefore the planet would have to be millions of years old. Genesis 2:2 states:

“By the seventh day God finished what he had been doing and stopped working”

This would indicate that God made humanity and all animals in their final form over “six days” which is in direct conflict with Darwin’s theory of evolution.
