Deforestation is a never-ending issue that has a strong case for and against it. ... This type of deforestation is known as slash and burn, and when this happens, the area that is cut down is not always used for lumber, so it ends up being wasted just to make space. ... With all the attention paid to deforestation, it seems that there would be more efforts made to decrease the amount of cutting that takes place, but it is actually the exact opposite. ... Neither the government nor the people in our economy stress the importance of saving trees and species and getting rid of the problem of deforestation. ... I believe that the best and safest way to attack the issue of deforestation is to only allow small-scale cutting and to replant any tree that is cut down.
