Regardless of how large or small, all aspects of human activity have affected and will continually affect the land we live on. Since the beginning of humanity, people have been using, and sometimes abusing our natural resources—slowly degrading Earth¡¯s ecosystems. During the last couple of centuries, the rapid growth of agriculture, industries, and numerous other enterprises have turned this small ecological problem into a dangerous threat. ...
Land transformation plays the biggest role in the ¡°human domination of Earth¡¯s ecosystems¡±. Wherever they go, people always leave a trace of human activity. ... Human alterations of their land are undoubtedly increasing, and the only way to slow down the damage that they are causing is to slow down ¡°human population growth¡± and to ¡°[use] resources as efficiently as is practical¡±. ... However, as CO©ü and fixed N increase restlessly with human activities, (such as mining and fossil fuel combustion) they alter climates, decrease food quality for animals, contribute in formation of acid rain as well as photochemical smog—which all ¡°influence the dynamics of recipient ecosystems¡±.
