The brain is involved with everything we do, so why would one want to destroy their brain by using drugs? Sixteen million Americans use illegal drugs, such as marijuana and heroin, while many others use alcohol and caffeine, substances that are just as dangerous. Many drugs, legal and illegal, have serious short and long term effects on the brain. ... THC bonds with neurons in the brain located on the cannabinoid receptors. These receptors are in certain areas of the brain that help control a wide array of mental and physical processes, from memory to reproduction. Once bonded, THC over stimulates the cannabinoid receptors, releasing a series of electrical charges into the brain. ...
