In this novel we are introduced to a man who is dealing with the struggles of government strangulation. ... For instance, Carlos, in this story goes on a journey to find his wife and runs into people who share a common interest in suffering and that of birds being a particular meaning.
The birds in this novel seem to be the focus of Carlos’s visions and are important due to the symbolic meaning of hope or pain. In the beginning of the novel, cars of the government officials are Ford Falcons, but are described as the birds of prey. ...
Focusing on the birds of this novel we have to see that Carlos is brought to the home of the Sternbergs who share such pain as Carlos. It is brought to our attention that the Sternbergs have a familiar insight with birds, as does Carlos.
