To separate an organic compound from a mixture, there are a lot of separation method available, for instance, extraction, crystallization (filtration), distillation, and chromatography. Different separation methods base on different theories. Just like extraction and crystallization technique depend on the solubility characteristics of organic compounds. Distillation method in separation bases on the different in boiling points among the components of a mixture. Chromatography separations are widely used to separate a mixture of compounds into individual components by the different in the abilities of chemicals to adhere to the surfaces i.e. the adsorption.
