Thunderstorms

Thunderstorms are very common in eastern Canada. At any given moment, 2,000 thunderstorms occur in the world. It is 45,000 per day, 16,000,000 per year, and 100 per second. Thunderstorms are not dangerous, if you take proper precautions. A typical thunderstorm is 20km in diameter, and it lasts about 30minutes. Thunderstorms occur mostly in spring and summer, during afternoon to night. But they can occur every season, every time. The definition of a thunderstorm is any rainstorm with lightning and thunder. Sometimes it is accompanied by wind, heavy rain and hail. 10% of thunderstorms in North America are classified as severe.
