For example, the television series, Star Trek, have achieved great distinction and scores of humanization awards without involving gratuitous violence.
The Star Trek writer, Gene Roddenberry, said during testimony before the congress that television is the most dangerous force in the world today. Considering the amount of violence displayed on television today, I think there is a lot of truth in this statement. Hence, television censorship is necessary to protect our children because violence on television actually increases the aggressiveness of children, it affects children’s characters and behaviors, it desensitizes children from the horror of violence, and it makes children more likely to accept violence as a way to solve problems.
