upwellings

An upwelling is a phenomenon that is an integral part of our world, our ecosystem. Although upwellings are only present in one tenth of a percent of our water supply worldwide, they consist of around fifty percent of our fishing stock yearly. Upwellings are created by winds that generate horizontal currents around a body of waters surface. The surface water does not move directly in front of the wind but rather at a forty five degree angle towards the right. This is caused due to the fact that we are in the Northern hemisphere, as the water heads towards the left in the Southern hemisphere.
