VAX 11/780
|

The VAX-11/780 machine was used under a time-sharing system. The measuring and timing was done with a micro-PC histogram data collection hardware wich monitors passively without interfering with microcode execution. The main operations or activities being examined are operand fetching, cache misses, branching, and microcode executions. Memory operations were also important in evaluating the performance of the processor but the micro-PC histogram monitor was unable to track memory references. The frequency of opcode groups such as character manipulation or integer computation were recorded.
