Death penalty is a very controversial issue in today 's society. Its popularity has increased over the years. According to Stuart Banner most of the arguments are base in two questions: "Are there any crimes so grave, or criminals so evil, that death is the only just punishment? Is it right for the state, acting in our name, to put criminals to death?" (Banner 3). These questions have been the key point to many controversies about the death penalty. I strongly believe that the state legislatures should abolish the death penalty because life imprisonment is a better punishment, innocent people may be put to death, and for human rights. Take in consideration the reasons given above and consider my position on the issue seriously. Life imprisonment is a more effective punishment rather than an execution. Criminals should stay in prison for the rest of their lives and suffer for what they did. Nothing is worst to a criminal as the certainly of life sentence with no hope of pardon. Just imagine living in prison until the day of your death.
