Water that is polluted is defined as “water that contains one or more materials that make the water unsuitable for any give use.” (Nebel & Wright, 2000) The water purification process removes many materials. There are many ways to purify the water, a combination of different filtration systems are set in place to decontaminate the water. There are 6 different methods are used to filter the water, settling, filtration, adsorption, biological oxidation, distillation, and disinfection. With all these systems in place it allows us to have clean drinking water. Clean water is also needed for washing clothes, washing dishes and it is used in the hospitals and many other businesses.
