Anxiety Phobias

Anxiety is a state of apprehension, uncertainty, and fear resulting from the

anticipation of a realistic or fantasized threatening event or situation, often impairing

physical and psychological functioning. Anxiety ranges from taking a test, to the death of

a loved one. It is classified in six categories: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD),

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

(PTSD), Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Anxiety), and .specific phobias. Anxiety is a

part of everyday human life. ...

However when it crosses over from being short, occasional, “healthy” anxiety, to long

term anxiety which affects a persons job or life, then it can become dangerous or

unhealthy. All people experience the six types of anxieties throughout their lives, which

is normal and “healthy”, however when the anxiety(s) become chronic or extremely

intense and last for long periods of time is when it becomes unhealthy.

Anxiety disorders may develop from a complex set of risk factors, including

genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events (such as traumatic events).

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD, is something that can be caused by life events.

This anxiety is characterized by excessive, unrealistic worry. GAD can be commonly

experienced by adults or people who pay bills, however when this anxiety exceeds six

months or more, then it can be classified as unhealthy. ...

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, otherwise known as OCD, is a disorder when

the individual has persistent, recurring thoughts that reflect exaggerated anxiety or fears. ... Symptoms of this anxiety include

heart palpitations, which is irregular rapid beating or pulsations of the heart, chest pain

and/or discomfort, sweating, trembling, tingling sensations, feeling of choking, fear of

dying, fear of losing control, and feeling of unreality.
