Topic: Autumn Time at a Fruit Farm Purpose: To inform my audience about autumn time at a fruit farm. Specific purpose: To inform my audience about the activities, fruits, and vegetables available during the fall season. Central Idea: There are many activities to do at a fruit farm during the fall such as picking apples, picking out that perfect pumpkin for you and your family to carve for Halloween. During the week Monnin’s Fruit Farm has field trips for local schools from around the area to come and have a hayride and to see that farm life is really hard work. Introduction: We all know that fruits and vegetables do not grow in Meijer’s or Kroger’s by now. I. Attention: The fruits and vegetables are picked green and shipped to a corporate distribution center. Where the produce is ready to be shipped, it is then gassed. This then causes the fruit to appear ripe in the store where you purchase it. II. Reveal topic: Picking apples, pumpkins and all kinds of other fruits and vegetables can be fun; you are just the one that one that has put the fun into picking the produce and bring it home for your family to eat as a healthy snack.
