After a three-interception performance last week at Minnesota, Garcia gets to rebound in front of the home crowd against the Lions, who are allowing 252.8 passing yards per game. Garcia should come out willing to please frustrated WR Terrell Owens, who will beat CB Dre' Bly for at least one touchdown. WR Tai Streets should also be a regular target for Garcia against fading veteran CB Otis Smith. RT Scott Gragg should keep DE Robert Porcher away from Garcia, giving him much time to throw and pick apart a very vulnerable secondary. Garcia might also try to score once via the rush when the Niners get close to the end zone. Other matchups to watch A fine passing game should open up some big running lanes for Garrison Hearst to slice through, and he'll also catch a few flat passes that should turn into good gainers. Kevan Barlow should score at least one time as San Francisco gets near the Detroit end zone several times. The Lions will try to control the ball with RB Shawn Bryson, but ILBs Derek Smith and Jeff Ulbrich will limit his totals. Joey Harrington will have to throw often by the second half, and that could lead to turnover possibilities for FS Zack Bronson and sacks for DE Andre Carter, who should eventually get past LT Jeff Backus when Detroit's receivers struggle to get open. WR Charles Rogers might pad his numbers when the Lions play from behind late. Week 4 matchups Arizona at Dallas Emmitt Smith will certainly want to make his presence felt here, and while MLB Dat Nyugen might lead a charge to limit his yardage, Smith will score at least once in the red zone. Jeff Blake should get some time to throw and will continue to look for rookie WR Anquan Boldin, who will be moved around to keep the Dallas defense guessing. Quincy Carter will likely look to attack the shaky Arizona secondary, especially with rainbows to WR Joey Galloway, who will easily get behind CBs Renaldo Hill and David Barrett for big gains. WR Terry Glenn should also post some respectable numbers, and Troy Hambrick should get more than one opportunity to score from short range. Cincinnati at Buffalo Expect a down week from Jon Kitna as the Buffalo secondary prevents his receivers from breaking loose for yards after the catch.
