The time had come. All of my hard work and determination had brought me to this event. I sat high atop my horse gazing around the pristine show grounds and taking in the atmosphere with mixed emotions. Tension filled the air, yet a sense of community and personal accomplishment lingered as well. I was here for two reasons. One reason was for the pure joy of flight over each colorful jump. The other was more serious. In order to qualify for New England Equitation Finals later this year, I would need to receive a first place in the medal I would be competing in today.
