The environment that most of the poets use in the Nara era poetry was one of a theme sadness lost love and of the joy of being with a love one. The world that the poets describe is one that is deep with feeling and those others are needed to share their world. One example of this is a poem by Princess Oku .in the poem she writes about her brother Prince Otsu that has left on trip.
