The push to make the Australian Football League, AFL, a national sport has been similar to the NBA’s push to make it a global game, in that they both succeeded in doing so. The main thing that the AFL did in order to make their game national, was spread the teams out across the nation, also they ran a number of add campaigns.
In 1997, Wayne Jackson became CEO of the AFL. In that time the AFL had just recently put two new AFL teams in Perth, one in New South Wales and one in Queensland, this was the best possible move that the AFL could of made.
