In Animal Farm, Orwell uses characters to represent real-life figures. For example Mr. Jones represents Czar Nicholas II. There are many things that show this to be true. First, Mr. Jones was the leader of the farm before the rebellion and Czar Nicholas was the leader of Russia before the revolution. Second, both of these men were forced to abdicate their leadership. Finally, both men were looked down upon in history. Also Mr. Jones had a drinking problem so that could conclude that Czar Nicholas II could have also had a drinking problem of himself. These Comparisons support the idea that Orwell uses characters to represent historical figures. In Animal Farm, Orwell uses characters to represent real-life figures. For example Old Major represents Karl Marx. Orwell does this for a couple of reasons. First, he does this because Old Major taught animalism while Karl Marx invented communism. Another reason Orwell uses Old Major to represent Marx is that both Old Major died before the rebellion of the animals as Marx died before the Russian Revolution. In addition, Old Major was a leader for the animals so Marx could have been a good leader for his people. These comparisons support the idea that Orwell uses characters to represent real-life historical figures. In Animal Farm, Orwell uses characters to represent real-life figures. For example Napoleon is used to represent Joseph Stalin. Orwell does this because there are many comparisons between the two. The first comparison is that neither Stalin nor Napoleon. Secondly, both Stalin and Napoleon didn’t like people who opposed them. Also Napoleon used the nine dogs, Moses, and squealer to control the animals while Stalin used the KGB. These Comparisons support the ideas that Orwell uses Napoleon to represent Joseph Stalin.
