Style in the Merriam Webster is defined as to design, make, or arrange in accord with the prevailing mode. Style in our society shows your creativity. It is also interpreted as the way people choose to represent themselves. When someone compliments a person on their style, it makes the person feel as though all their hard work of trying to be creative has paid off. Having your own style means that you don’t follow behind the crowd, you set out to be your own trendsetter. Although there are a wide variety of styles, we can categorize each style in a group. The three different looks of styles seen at NCCU are the preppy look, the athletic look, and the “my alarm clock didn’t go off look.” One of the most commonly seen looks is the “preppy” look. Usually the people in this group are business majors or law majors. They are the people who plan to work in a business or an office setting. The “preps” are likely to be seen wearing suits, dresses, blazers, and blouses. “Preps" would never be seen walking around in pajama pants or a sweatshirt. For example: my friend Bridgette is a law major. She never wears t-shirts or sweatshirts. She always feels as though she has to be dressed up everyday. Bridgette never leaves the house unless she is dressed to impress. On a daily basis Bridgette is known to be wearing the most expensive clothing. Her favorite outfit is this white long sleeved shirt that wraps around and ties in the front.
